Buyers Agent Compensation


Many buyers are confused about how a buyers agent gets paid. A buyers agent will only get paid when their buyers completes a home purchase transaction through the buyers agent. The commission to the buyers agent will be paid by the sellers to the buyers agents broker. The commission amount was determined when the seller listed their home with the listing agent and agreed to by the listing agents broker. At that time the seller agrees to pay a commision based on the selling price of the home. The broker agrees to pay a percentage based fee to any agent or broker who produces a buyer for the home.  The buyers agent has no control over this amount, unless at time of sale it is agreed by all parties to change it for the good of the deal.
